Canada is not exempt from anti-Black racism and history shows it: From the Computer Riot of 1969 to the Yonge Street Protest of 1992 and even the Black Lives Matter protest during the Pride Parade in 2016. However, prominent political leaders such as Ontario Premier Doug Ford, have tried to downplay the history of systemic racism in Canada. Davis, on why it’s important to understand the history of anti-Black racism in Canada and how diminishing discrimination faced by Black communities is harmful.

 

Growing calls to address anti-Black racism at the University of Windsor (12+)

A group of academics at University of Windsor declared Monday a day of ‘mourning’ because of what they say is a problem with racism at the institution. The university is investigating threats against Black students, but it's created a climate for some of bias, discrimination and fear.
