Local Level Emergency Educators 

The Avon Maitland District School Board (AMDSB) is a full-service, public, English school district in southwestern Ontario, bordering Lake Huron and covering the counties of Huron and Perth. 

The education sector is not immune to the labour market challenges that many industries are experiencing all across Ontario. We continue to recruit qualified permanent and temporary staff for all positions. The job posting below is meant to be used for emergency situations as all possible options to cover an absence have been exhausted and there is a need to arrange coverage by an adult who has met the criteria listed below. 

The schools listed below are now accepting applications for the Local Level Emergency Educators.

Local Level Emergency Educators are individuals who are not registered with OCT (Ontario College of Teachers) and have expressed an interest in working with students and present with an educational and/or work background that reasonably supports their participation as an educator in emergency situations.  

The ideal candidate may possess the following;

  • Previous experience working with children;
  • Proven ability and willingness to support students with special needs;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in a school environment;
  • Availability to accept assignments on a casual basis during the day and with short notice.

If you are enrolled/accepted into a Bachelor of Education Program or attending a Teacher's College and working towards being registered with the Ontario College of Teachers, please apply as an Elementary Emergency Teacher Candidate or Secondary Emergency Teacher Candidate.

Successful candidates will be required to provide the Board with an original current satisfactory Criminal Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector for employment.
