Elementary and Secondary Principal and Vice-Principal Recruitment and Selection

The Avon Maitland District School Board is currently seeking qualified applicants for the positions of Principal and Vice Principal in our elementary and secondary schools.
 
The Board is creating a pool of qualified candidates to be eligible for positions that become available for the 2020-2021 school year and beyond. Experienced educators who have demonstrated strong leadership in previous positions and who meet the qualification requirements below are invited to apply.
 
Interviews for elementary and secondary Principal and Vice-Principal positions will be held in May.
 
QUALIFICATIONS – PRINCIPAL
 
Candidates making an application for a position of Principal will have:
  • Ontario School Principal’s Certificate Parts 1 and 2 (which requires a Master’s Degree or double specialist) completed at time of application;
  • recommendation from his/her immediate supervisor;
  • demonstration of successful educational leadership experience;
  • superior administrative and organizational skills; and,
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
 
QUALIFICATIONS - VICE-PRINCIPAL
 
Candidates making an application for a position of Vice-Principal will have:
  • leadership experience at the school or board level;
  • at the time of interviews, registered for or completed Principal Qualification Program Part 1 certification;
  • recommendation from his/her immediate supervisor;
  • superior administrative and organizational skills; and,
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Successful candidates will be placed in a pool for consideration for upcoming vacancies. The maximum length of placement in the pool will be 3 calendar years from the time of appointment to the pool. Candidates who are currently in the pool need not reapply.
