Local Level Emergency Support Staff (Unqualified Educational Assistant, Early Childhood Educator, & Secretary)

The Avon Maitland District School Board (AMDSB) is a full-service, public, English school district in southwestern Ontario, bordering Lake Huron and covering the counties of Huron and Perth. 

The education sector is not immune to the labour market challenges that many industries are experiencing all across Ontario. We continue to recruit qualified permanent and temporary staff for all positions. The job posting below is meant to be used for emergency situations as all possible options to cover an absence have been exhausted and there is a need to arrange coverage by an adult who has met the criteria listed below.

Local Level Emergency Support Staff (Unqualified Educational Assistant, Early Childhood Educators, Secretary)

Local Level Emergency Support Staff are individuals who are not qualified but have expressed an interest in working in a school and present with an educational and/or work background that reasonably supports their participation as support staff in emergency situations.  

The ideal candidate may possess the following;

  • Previous experience working with children;
  • Proven ability and willingness to support students with special needs;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in a school environment;
  • Availability to accept assignments on a casual basis during the day and with short notice.

If you are accepted/enrolled into a post-secondary program that will deem you qualified upon graduating for any of the support staff positions, please apply to the relevant support staff job posting on the Board website for formal consideration.

Successful candidates will be required to provide the Board with an original current satisfactory Criminal Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector for employment.
