Principal and Vice-Principal Recruitment and Selection

The Avon Maitland District School Board is seeking qualified applicants for the positions of Principal and Vice Principal in our elementary and secondary schools.

​The Board is seeking qualified and experienced educators to join the Principal and Vice Vice-Principal pool. Candidates who have demonstrated strong leadership in previous positions and who meet the qualification requirements below are invited to apply.

​Interviews for elementary and secondary Principal and Vice-Principal pool positions will be held throughout the year, please follow the instructions below to apply. 

​Qualifications - Principal

Candidates making an application for a position of Principal will have:

  • Ontario School Principal’s Certificate Parts 1 and 2 (which requires a Master’s Degree or double specialist) completed at time of application;
  • recommendation from their immediate supervisor;
  • demonstration of successful educational leadership experience;
  • superior administrative and organizational skills; and,
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Qualifications - Vice Principal

Candidates making an application for a position of Vice-Principal will have:

  • leadership experience at the school or board level;
  • at the time of interviews, registered for or completed Principal Qualification Program Part 1 certification;
  • recommendation from their immediate supervisor;
  • superior administrative and organizational skills; and,
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
