Custodian (Daily Occasional)

Are you looking for a rewarding and flexible career supporting the daily maintenance and operations of schools? 
We are inviting applications for casual Custodians who will support our elementary (K-8) and/or secondary schools (9-12) located in Huron and Perth counties. 
The Basic Custodian duties may include:

Building Maintenance

  • Change lights;
  • Shovel snow and operate snow blower;
  • Clean and inspect roof;
  • Operate grass cutting equipment;
  • Perform minor repairs;
  • Conduct health and safety checks; and
  • Service roof top unit.

Building Cleaning

  • Operate and maintain all equipment; and
  • Perform all minor and major cleaning.


  • Minimum grade 12 diploma or GED equivalent

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • The ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding;
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience in one or more of the trade disciplines eg. plumbing, electrical, carpentry;
  • Exemplary interpersonal, professional and organizational skills;
  • The ability to use a computer (e.g. Google Suite; SmartFind, etc.)
  • Experience in handling machinery (e.g. buffing machine, lawn mowers, snowblowers); and,
  • Knowledge of proper usage of hazardous chemicals and cleaning supplies.

Start Date: As soon as possible
Hours of Work: Call-in basis, Monday - Friday (typically afternoon shift), summer hours (July and August, typically transition to day shift)
Daily Rate: $20.31 per hour + vacation pay
Long Term Assignment Rate: $20.31 per hour + vacation pay
