Workforce Census

Overview

In the fall of 2022, AMDSB launched its first Workforce Census (the Census), a voluntary, confidential self-identification survey of all AMDSB employees. The Census aligned with provincial legislation including the Ontario Human Rights Code, Ontario’s Anti-Racism data standards, and the Ontario Ministry of Education’s Equity Action Plan. The Census also aligned with our commitment to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusiveness across all areas of our organization, as outlined in the AMDSB Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity Action Plan

The Census was open to all AMDSB staff between October 24 and December 31, 2022. We wish to all those employees who participated in the Census. Together, we achieved a 75% response rate, which is amongst the highest participation rates of all district school boards across Ontario and the highest rate our board has seen on system wide employee surveys in the recent past. Consultation with and endorsements of the Census from our various employee and labour groups were essential to cultivating trust and participation in this important equity work.

This level of engagement provides a more accurate demographic data capture and allows for an accurate comparison of the AMDSB workforce demographics with student demographics and the demographics of the Huron Perth communities we serve.
