FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Avon Maitland District School Board (AMDSB) is providing information to the public in an effort to encourage Huron Perth residents to run for school board trustee. Trustees will be elected on October 26, 2026 during the municipal election.
According to the Director of Education Graham Shantz: “Our trustees play a vital role in overseeing the focus in our education system as related to our Strategic Plan. They are passionate about public education and they advocate for student achievement and well-being.” There are nine trustees for AMDSB, representing a geographical portion of the district and the schools within. The areas include:
- Southwest Huron
- Central East Huron
- Northwest Huron
- North Huron/Morris Turnberry/Howick
- St. Marys/Perth South/West Perth
- North Perth
- Perth East
- Stratford (x 2)
“We are hopeful that any residents interested in student achievement and well-being come forward. We particularly encourage diverse community members to run so that voices of equity-seeking groups are better represented.” Said Shantz.
