AMDSB Welcomes New Superintendent

January 28, 2021

Changes are coming to the Avon Maitland District School Board’s senior team table. Since early January they have been actively recruiting for a Superintendent of Education, given the announced retirement of Superintendent Jodie Baker in late 2020.

They had several excellent candidates for the positions but are happy to announce that Laura Marotta will be joining the AMDSB team. She comes to Avon Maitland from the York Region District School Board.

“I am thrilled to welcome Laura to our senior team. She brings excellent experience and evidence of progressive leadership that fosters a culture of trust and empowerment” said Dr. Lisa Walsh, Director of Education.

Laura officially begins her assignment on Friday February 12, 2021.

“Laura brings an extensive background in French Immersion and Special Education and has worked to advocate for schools to improve achievement and well-being for all students.” continued Walsh.
