- Indigenous Disability Awareness Month
- When
- 11/1/2035 – 11/30/2035
November 1 marks the beginning of Indigenous Disability Awareness Month, which was first recognized in 2015 by BCANDS. This month is recognized in Canada by the Provinces of British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, the Assembly of First Nations, BC First Nations Summit, Métis Nation of BC, Council of Yukon First Nations, the Town of Inuvik, and hundreds of other organizations and communities across the country. IDAM is the only Indigenous disability-specific awareness initiative of its kind in the world. Indigenous Disability Awareness Month is a time for all of us to reflect and take action while raising awareness about the challenges, such as limited resources, access and jurisdictional issues, faced by Indigenous individuals who live with a disability.
