Pathways Innovation Centre
The Pathways Innovation Centre (PIC) located on the third floor of Stratford Intermediate School. The innovative space hosts skilled trades and technology workshops for AMDSB students in grades 6, 7 and 8. These opportunities are funded by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development through the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) as well as the Ministry of Education through the Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program and Experiential Learning.
Students are exposed to a variety of trades and technical professions through learning modules designed around authentic, real world applications that are tied to the curriculum.
Students in grade 6 participate in a hands-on electrical control panel workshop where they learn about electrical tools, basic electrical terminology as well as the difference between series and parallel circuits. Students in grades 7 and 8 participate in a hands-on multi-trade workshop and will explore equipment and techniques in carpentry, plumbing and sheet metal. Other opportunities at the PIC include robotics, Skills Ontario competition prep, residential wiring, residential plumbing, graphics and 3D printing.
