PA Day Reminder & Eclipse Safety

A reminder that Monday April 8 is a PA Day in AMDSB so there will be no school for students. Also on Monday, a total solar eclipse will be visible in our region. A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon comes between the earth and the sun, obstructing our view of the sun and casting a shadow on the earth. The timing is as follows:

  • At 2:00 pm the moon will begin to pass in front of the sun
  • At 3:17 pm, the moon will obscure almost all of the Sun (‘eclipsing the Sun’) and then continue to pass the sun
  • At 4:29 pm the solar eclipse will end

It is very unsafe to look directly at the sun during an eclipse. Here are a few resources that you may find helpful:
