AMDSB Centre for Employment & Learning Transitioning Out of Adult Employment Services

The Avon Maitland District School Board (AMDSB) has made the difficult decision to not renew their Employment Services contract with Employment Ontario beyond March 31, 2025. This means that the AMDSB Centre for Employment & Learning (CEL) will no longer be the provider of employment services for Huron County after a one year transition period. 

Several factors have contributed to this decision, including increased operating costs and the desire to align our resources with our core mandate of supporting teaching and learning. The Adult Education services of the CELs will remain in place as these services support accessible learning opportunities across both counties. 

Jane Morris, Superintendent of Education said: “We are here to support our staff who are impacted by this change as we transition away from employment services. We are grateful to them as they have provided exemplary employment services and support to members of our community.”

Employment Ontario, through the Employment Services System Manager (SSM), Bruce County, will start a process to find another employment services provider for Huron County and that organization will begin service on April 1, 2025. Throughout the next year, AMDSB will collaborate with the SSM to develop a smooth transition plan as they move towards this change.
