Anti-Sex Trafficking

Sex trafficking is a serious safety and human rights issue that can affect children and youth. Guided by the AMDSB Equity Action Plan and the Culturally Relevant Responsive Sustaining Pedagogical Framework, this work focuses on protecting students and strengthening their well‑being. AMDSB supports students by teaching them about healthy relationships, personal boundaries, and how to get help when something does not feel right. By building trusting relationships and creating inclusive school communities, AMDSB helps reduce risk and supports students in staying safe and informed.

Students Need the Following:

Safe and Caring Adults

A safe and caring adult is someone at school who helps every student feel seen, respected, and supported.

In the context of the AMDSB Equity Action Plan and the Culturally Relevant, Responsive, and Sustaining Pedagogy (CRRSP) Framework, a safe and caring adult:

Builds trust by listening, being kind, and keeping students’ dignity at the center.
Creates a sense of belonging so every student feels they matter and can be their true self.
Honours identity by respecting each student’s culture, language, family, and lived experiences.
Responds to harm with care by addressing hurtful words or actions and helping students learn and repair relationships.
Acts with fairness by noticing and challenging bias, discrimination, and barriers.
Supports well-being and growth by encouraging students, helping them solve problems, and celebrating their strengths.
Takes responsibility to keep students safe—both physically and emotionally—every day.

Anonymous Reporting Tool

If a student does not have access to a safe and caring adult, they are encouraged to use the anonymous reporting tool. This tool allows students to share concerns if they see or suspect signs of sex trafficking or unsafe situations.

If this is an emergency, call 911 right away before completing the form.

Because the form is anonymous, it is important to share as much information as possible. Students may choose whether or not to share their name. Please note that this form is not checked all the time (not 24/7).

Reaching out for help is an important step in staying safe and taking care of yourself. Sometimes it can feel hard to speak up, especially if you are unsure or worried about what might happen. But sharing your concerns with a trusted person or support service can help you feel less alone and make sure that someone can take action to keep you and others safe. Asking for help shows strength, and there are people who care and want to listen.

Get Regulated

Taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your body. When you feel upset, stressed, or overwhelmed, your body and mind need time to calm down and feel safe again. Getting regulated means finding ways to relax and feel in control, like taking deep breaths, talking to someone you trust, or taking a quiet break. Reaching out for help when you are struggling can make a big difference. It can help you feel calmer, think more clearly, and know that you are not alone.
