Context

We have received Ministry funding for required renovations at Stratford Central Secondary School. The receipt of this funding, augmented with some Board funds, affords us the opportunity to address accessibility at Stratford Central. Construction has begun and the 1958 wing has been demolished and improvements are being made to make the building more accessible for all students.

While the construction is being completed at Stratford Central, all students are at the Stratford Northwestern site (and any required satellite campus).

Below is a rendering of the draft design, which provides the concept of what our Facilities team has planned. Looking at the front of the school from St. Andrews Street, you see the new wing (to replace the 1958 wing) on the right, in the foreground. Slightly to the left, at the end of the drive, is the new on-grade main entrance, which moves people inside to the lobby area and new elevator and also stairs to all floors.

The vision for the future of the two schools was determined on November 26, 2019. Stratford Central will house grade 7 and 8 students from the City of Stratford and Stratford Northwestern will house grade 9 to 12 students from the City of Stratford and surrounding area. A committee has been established to make recommendations about the future of the two schools (names, mascots, logos, colours, etc.). Click here for details.
