Board Policy 26: Indemnification of Board Members

This policy establishes the administrative regulations for the indemnification of board members.

As permitted under Section 176 of the Education Act, Avon Maitland District School Board provides group accident insurance to indemnify a member of a board or their estate against loss in case they are accidentally injured or killed.

The board also provides group public liability and property damage insurance to indemnify a member of a board or their estate in respect of loss or damage for which he or she has become liable by reason of injury to persons or property or in respect of loss or damage suffered by him or her by reason of injury to his or her own property, while traveling on the business of the board or in the performance of duties as a member of the board within or outside the area over which the board has jurisdiction.
