(OSSD Program graduate Sky poses with Principal Kendra Brohman and Credit Lead Erin Moore)
For the first time in two years, The Centre for Employment and Learning (CEL) hosted an event to celebrate the graduates of its Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) Program page on CEL website.
70 adult students were recognized at this special event, accompanied by family, friends, and CEL staff.
Site Coordinator and Lead for ESL, Credit, and PSW Programs Erin Jones says, "The event is always special because it celebrates our adult graduates and recognizes their achievements. Our adult students work, have families and other adult responsibilities but still took the time to invest in earning a high school diploma."
Moore says that walking through the door and finding the courage to get started on a high school diploma is hard, but "we see their confidence grow as they complete credits. A high school diploma has allowed our graduates to pursue that job they always wanted that was out of reach before or go onto college or university or other training programs. For some of our graduates this is the achievement of a long-time goal."
Congratulations to all graduates! Your accomplishment is inspiring and we wish you all the best in your next chapter.
