Dear AMDSB Parents/Guardians,
As we move into the fall and our Thanksgiving weekend, I wanted to send a message of gratitude. I am grateful for your partnership as we navigate this ever-changing COVID-19 pandemic. We are getting through this. The start up to this school year has been relatively smooth. I have heard many reports of students being excited to be back with their classmates, their friends and our staff who support them in our classrooms. We too are excited to have our students back, filling our schools with energy and excitement!
Our day to day life continues to be impacted by this pandemic. I understand that there are varying views on provincial and local requirements, including masking, and vaccination to enter certain businesses and facilities. However, rest assured, the health and safety of students (and staff) is at the core of what we have in place. Our rules are intended to keep everyone safe and we are working hard to ensure that they are strictly and consistently followed. Exceptions to these rules are carefully vetted based on the approved upon reasons from Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) and Huron and Perth physicians.
I also want to reiterate that we are part of the education sector, and therefore follow and adhere to the direction and advice on health issues from our public health partners and the Ministry of Education, who is guided by the Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table. We are required by law to follow the provincial guidelines. If you wish to express your opinions or advocate about provincial health regulations, please reach out to your local Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP). As for our local situation, we regularly monitor the data and information provided by HPPH and meet regularly with them to discuss our practices and policies with our local context in mind.
Please enjoy this long weekend safely with family and friends. I encourage everyone to reflect and be grateful for everything that we do have. We hope to continue working in partnership with you so that we can keep our schools open and our students developing academically, emotionally and socially. We will continue to do our very best to provide engaging learning opportunities for our students so that they can say: I am prepared. I am well. I am engaged. Have a wonderful long weekend.
